How to Play Piquet

Objective: Be the first to score 100 points through declarations and trick-taking.

Rules:

• 32-card deck (7,8,9,10,J,Q,K,A in each suit). 2 players.
• Each player is dealt 12 cards. 8 cards remain in the talon (stock).
• Discard phase: Exchange up to 5 cards (or up to 8 if you're the younger hand).
• Declaration phase: Score for longest sequence, best point (suit total), and quatorze (4 of same rank) or trio (3).
• Carte blanche: 10 points if no face cards in hand.
• Pique: 30 points if you reach 30 before opponent scores. Repique: 60 points if you reach 30 before opponent even scores once.
• Play phase: Lead a card, opponent must follow suit if possible. Highest card of led suit wins the trick.
• Game ends at 100 points. Carte rouge (bonus for reaching 100).
