Developer Log: Uncovering Archive 9

Archive 9: The Missing Hour is a departure from our usual action-heavy games. It's an atmospheric, narrative-driven puzzle game inspired by classic point-and-click adventures and analog horror.

Building the Mystery

The narrative of Archive 9 is non-linear. Players must piece together the story by finding hidden documents, listening to distorted audio logs, and solving logic puzzles. We spent weeks outlining the lore bible before writing a single line of code to ensure the mystery was logically sound and deeply unsettling.

The UI as a Character

In Archive 9, the user interface itself is part of the game world. We designed it to mimic an archaic, glitchy operating system from the late 90s. The CRT monitor curvature, scanlines, and chromatic aberration effects were all achieved using custom CSS filters and WebGL shaders.
