Developer Log: Building AI Tycoon

AI Tycoon was born out of a desire to satirize the modern tech landscape. The goal was to create a classic real-estate trading game loop, but centered entirely around buying foundation models, cloud infrastructure, and handling VC funding. We built a custom state machine in Javascript to handle the Monopoly rules logic and the bot AI.

The UI & Aesthetics

The core tension in AI Tycoon is balancing your cash burn rate against acquiring the best AI models. To reflect this high-stakes environment, we implemented a neon Cyberpunk aesthetic. The UI relies heavily on modern CSS Grid for the board layout, and Glassmorphism for the player panels to ensure the background city remains visible while trading.

Technical Details

We abandoned standard canvas rendering for pure DOM manipulation. Every tile is an HTML element, styled with CSS, which allows for perfect responsive scaling on any monitor size. The bot AI makes basic risk-assessment choices based on its available cash buffer.
